"Three days before the death of one of my dearest companions, I was in a hurry to finish this painting but did not know why. I had spent many of my favorite times walking through forests with friends and I felt the impulse to honor sacred relationships. That day, I quickly changed the tree in the middle because it impeded the path of these two people. I thought that we should not lose sight of our friends so I turned the head on the first person to look back at her partner. I added birds for their song, and a way out of the forest with no clear destination because the celebration is in the journey."
